My PC keeps freezing/hanging after an hour or so, any ideas as to the cause?

Of course, there could be all sorts of reasons for this happening, my response was:
Best guess would be to ask your friend if any h/w or s/w has been installed recently (including plugged in to usb). Perform a system restore otherwise.
